Auto Cad

Maybe not in the correct section, however I'm trying to get hold of a cheapish version of Auto CAD.

Anyone have any ideas, its for a friend so I really don't know much about this.

You can get the full Autodesk Inventor package if you can prove student status.....

Yep... Student Packages (but when you print it adds a not saying it was produced on a Student Licensed copy!) Otherwise its:

£6500 for Product Design Suite (AutoCAD & Inventor) which I bought recently!
£2750 for AutoCAD
£950 for AutoCAD LT

Is a free alternative, and is pretty much identical to the r14 I used to use (never used newer ones). I really recommend it.

I'd recommend trying Draftsight. The only issue I can see with it is that when you open Draftsight edited files in AutoCAD it flashes up a warning saying it was made on a non-AutoCAD package.
