OK - just a little question as this is driving me a little mad.
Madder still now I've been told there is no fix - so I thought I'd check with the experts of OcUK! :)

Before tonight:

LCD Television
Sky+ Box via SCART
Toshiba DVD via SCART

Television on, switch on Sky+ - television automatically switches to that input and we watch Sky.
Turn off Sky, television goes back to using its internal antenna.

DVD player on, insert DVD - television automatically switches to that input and we watch the DVD movie.
Turn off DVD player, television goes back to using internal antenna.

Have just a while ago removed the Toshiba DVD and replaced it with a PS3.
So:

LCD Television
Sky+ Box via SCART
PS3 via HDMI

Turn on PS3.....nothing.
Have to grab television remote, enter menu, go to connections, manually change to HDMI - I can use the PS3 for games/DVD/BR.
Finish with the PS3 and switch it off....nothing.
Have to grab television remote, enter menu, go to connections, manually change to "TV".

I'm now given the impression that is how it is.
From now on there will be no more simply inserting the DVD/BR and off it goes and plays and switches channel for me, I'll have to manually change the inputs.
Is this correct?
Is there no way of just switching on the PS3 and it automatically displays it?

Ta

Yep, I too have to manually switch the TV onto a HDMI source for my PS3 and 360 both connected via HDMI

I dont think there is auto switching with HDMI, I could be wrong, but I aint come across one........

Was going to say id bet this is more to do with your tv than the ps3. Surely you have a "source" button on your remote?

Wouldn't you have your remote close to you anyway? If you're watching TV...

Mine doesn't autoswitch either, but I don't care it takes about 2 seconds to change.

What tv is it? im really suprised it aint got a source button on the remote. It will be the first tv ive seen without one. Even the cheapo bush tv i had about 8 years ago had one. :D

Thanks for the replies.
I hadn't investigated the television remote that closely - there is indeed a "Source" button which will make things easier.
It's just I'm so used to not needing one, that's why I wasn't aware of it being there.

It is interesting what you say about HDMI 1.3
The PS3...I'm not 100% sure of its status, I'm assuming it is 1.3
The television in question is a Samsung LE40F86 and I'm 99% sure that is HDMI 1.3

I was told on another forum that HDMI simply doesn't allow for auto-switching which although I found difficult to hear (if "old" SCART can do it then surely it isn't a feature "new" HDMI can't do) looks like it might be the truth and I'll just have to get used to using the Source button.

Mine doesn't auto switch and its a Samsung LE40M86BD. I just need to press the "Source" button on the remote 2 times and then it goes to HDMI. Bit annoying, but only takes a few seconds.

Samsung here also. i have some feature called "anynet" which looks like a HDMI auto detect thing.. but you need other devices that have it. Or i could be talking bull.. Just scanned over it in the destructions.
