not sure why its happening but my start menu isnt auto hiding any more. this normaly happens when i have a icon on my taskbar that requires my attention, like utorrent just finishing a donwload. but thats not the case here.

if i click the disable auto hide that works, but when i re enable auto hide, it only stays hidden from the moment i click apply, to the moment i put my mouse over it to bring it up, after it comes back up it stays up.

its rather annoying now because it resizes things according to that setting, so my IRC window for example, the input box is hidden behind the taskbar now.

also i cant restart my pc atm to see if that will solve the problem as its needed to be on atm.

Hmm,

Try setting the taskbar back to being fixed on the desktop (i.e. not hidden). Then, right-click the desktop > Properties and go to the "Appearance" tab. Try changing the Windows theme, to say, Classic for example.

After doing that, change the theme back to whatever you had (i.e. WindowsXP) and then try setting the taskbar to auto-hide again and see if it'll stay down. (oooo eerrr misus, down boy down!) :p

Open task manager and close explorer.exe, then click on File , New Task (Run..) and type in explorer.exe , hit Enter.

No guarantees but it fixes some problems.
