Hey,

Was just wondering - is there any way to turn off the auto-picture, auto-contrast, auto-whatevers on Philips TVs. The only option on my 23" set is Auto-Contrast - however the box says it has Auto-Brightness etc. I can also see it brighten or darken slightly depending on the picture. Are you meant to be able to see it adjusting itself? Also is there any way to turn these off? I have checked through the manual and there is no mention.

Pretty sure you can turn off the auto stuff. Sometimes is called Active Control on Philips sets.

Sometimes there is a button on the remote for it too.

Also, it's normal to be able to see it changing. Bloomin' annoying though!

Nope, there's nothing on the remote. Nothing in the manual about it even HAVING anything other than auto-contrast - but that is switched off and the screen is STILL adjusting it's brightness. It's not that much of a problem, but would prefer it off.

After reading around it turns out the problem is most probably the Active Control 'feature' which alters the brightness/colour of the picture on the fly. However, it is very noticeable! Anyone know how to turn this 'feature' off? There is nothing in the TV menus and nothing on the website/manual.

Cheers.
