Hi,

I am really bad at turning off my bedside lamp when I'm reading at night, last night it was on all night long :-(

Not only in this wasting power, but I also sleep better when the light is off.

I am after something that I can plug the lamp socket into, that auto powers it off between certain hours, for example I would like the lamp power to be cut at say 2AM and not let me turn it back on again for a few hours.

Is there anything out there can do this, or something like this?

Presumably those would also turn the light back on if I didn't switch it off though at the switch on the lead.

Hmm I guess maybe what I want is not possible without having a lamp designed around it. Anything that can detect when the lamp is on, cut the power after X minutes and then not let me power it back on again until I manually intervene at the socket to allow it to power on again?

Sounds a bit crazy perhaps...

just get a timer switch with a manual overide and have it so it cuts power at 2am and stays off until say 10a or whatever and then if you want to switch the lamp on you just use the override switch on the timer...

Before buying anything, consider how many times you'd need to leave the lamp on over night to justify the cost. Wasting electricity is, well, a waste. Buying some plastic and metal gizmo made in China and shipped half way round the world is also very wasteful.

TL;DR turn the lamp off before you fall asleep yourself ;)
