Auto Trader Scammers?

Hi guys, just put my Fiesta up on Auto Trader and got this email today:

Good Dy..
I am Mr Tom Wolly i am so much interested in buying your advertised ar for sale listed on Autotader will like you to get back to me with the present condiction and also if this is still forsale.

Just reeks of ebay scam-mails/messages and probably is, but you never know!

Just when he offers to send a cheque for £3000 and to pass X amount on to his friend in Botswana when i post the car 1st Class recorded :D

However could be legit and the guy just can't spell/punctuate very well?

Has anyone else using Auto Trader for car sales had much "spam" contact about the cars/bikes?

Unfortunately, way too often, the same with almost any online auction/for-sale pages, people try to scam you, and unfortunately, they only do it because some people are gullible enough to fall for it :(

Tried selling my CR-V about a year ago and all I got was Canvesers.. "We've got xx buyers waiting to purchase your car!.. Just pay us £90 and we'll send them your details to see if they want to view it!!" Not even a garantee of selling for £90! :rolleyes:

I started getting very rude (and I do mean Very rude at the end) to these people after about 3 weeks (I was advertising my car for 4 weeks) of Non-Stop cold callers!... I even still got calls after the ad had run its course, to which I was getting Very VERY rude (especially to the ones that had phoned me already 3+ times), unfortunatly these were the only callers I got (no propper buyers).

I had to part-ex it at my local Honda garage for a Civic in the end!... (very happy with my Civic though!!)

(1) Can u let me know how many miles has the car done ?
(2) What is the condition of the crank Shaft ?
(3) What is the condition of the Engine ?
(4) What is the condition of the 4 tires ?
(5) What is the condition of the ball joint ?
(6) How does the documentation of the car look like ?
(7) What is the condition of the general body of the car ?
(8) Pls i will want u to pls email me both in and out of the car if u can get that done.
(9) Can u let me know ** last price as well ?
Pls i like to know if u are willing to let ** car out of UK cos i bassed in Sweden were i work as an Minner(People the extract Natural resource)but spent most of my time on Off sure.Pls i will not want u to worry about the shipping of the car i will handle all that myself but i will want u to pls let me know if u are willing to let the car go out of UK. Also i shall be paying with a Uk Bankers Draft which is been drawn from a Uk bank if u are ok with this pls do get back to me so that we can both conclude on everything soonest.

scam dood!

we recently sold my girlfriend's corsa and had several of them contacting us by e-mail, the one above where the guy opens with "Good-day..." sounds similar to the Nigerian boy who tried to convince me he was Australian.....

"Ah hello good-day to you...my name is to be Bruce and I am being from Australia, currently I am living in Aberystwyth but due to being very busy I would like to be being to purchase your car but I must send a cheque and will pay you $12,000, if you could simply ship the car and provide all personal details. Thanks you. Oh and tie my kangaroo down, my sports!"

Strung him along for quite a while just for the hell of it before I told him that we wouldn't sell to him unless he found himself gainful employment, instead of trying to scam for a living :D
