Hi guys

Just put my new parts together and its doing the same thing as my laptop so i know its a setting some where and me being stupid but i just cant find it!

Anyway, its underclocking the CPU when its not being used, putting it back to normal when it is being used.

Board is a Asus p45 delux, any ideas?

thanks in advance

Intel speedstep, reduces the multiplier when idle to save energy.
To disable you need to find EIST & C1E in the BIOS.

No probs, if your running Vista check the power options in control panel is set to high performance.

Rob :)

Found it in the bios like you said, cheers :)

Why would you want to turn it off though?

Im not sure, i did wonder myself! i think its because its so new (i upgraded from socket A!) also have watercooling installed so wanted to have a proper gage off how well its doing, 32c idle seems to be good :)
