auto update

what is the name of the automatic updates process, i have turned it off in my registry, but i have to restart for it to take effect, how do i kill the prompt that appears every so often now?

Rather strangely, it is called Automatic Updates.

Start > run > services.msc > start or stop it.

not in my ctrl+alt+del it isnt

Why you disable it in the registry :confused:

I simply disable it with the GUI and have never had a reminder ever pop up after?!?!

not sure why you've done it in the registry..

there are a few services it depends on

services.msc

Automatic Updates
BITS

(and a few more i think), but you can safely disable these two, and untick the option as the post above mine says
