Ok so I have had to draw a 3D model of a cordless drill for my autocad project. The problem I am having is that there is a gap between the battery and the handle of my drill. I am stuck as to how I should go about closing this gap. Does any autocad pro's here have any ideas?

I have tried moving the battery upwards to close the gap but when i use 3D rotate the battery and the rest of the drill appear to be on completely different planes.

Then you are doing it wrong, or moving it wrong.

make sure your UCS x & y axis are perpendicular to the object you are trying to move and rotate the view using 3d orbit so you can see the are of the model you need clearly.

Then make sure you have ortho on (F8 to toggle on/off) and your osnap settings are adequate to snap to corner, perpendicular or whatever you need.

Select the solid you want to move and the point to move it with then snap it to the perpendicular surface.

I used to get that. The easiest way i found was to change the view to the 4-window one, with a main view that you can rotate in 3D and three 2D views from each side. Use the 2D views to move things (you'll probably need to move it in 2 different windows to get it in the right place)

for future reference if you add the view toolbar to your toolbars it add buttons for Top, left, right, bottom views etc and using these you can normally sort problems like that without having to create a new UCS (not that its that difficult)

Also when creating a new UCS in a 3d model its sometimes easier to do it in reference to a face. (it prompts you when doing it)
