I need to upgrade my work pc (i3 540/ 8GB/ GT310 512MB) to something a bit more fit for purpose.
I am currently using Autocad 2012 but may be upgrading to 2016 soon.
For 2D work the current system has no issues at all but for 3D work it struggles and slows to a halt - often resulting in a fatal error and me having to recover drawings.
My plan is to buy a used (refurbished) Dell Optiplex with either i7 or i5 (ivy or newer) and add an Autodesk certified GPU.
I have looked at the certified GPU list but I have no clue what is best suited to my needs and hoped there may be some in here with actual hands on experience that can offer some advice.
Currently running Windows 7 but a move to 10 may be on the cards if we upgrade to 2016 Autocad.
