Autodesk Maya, Which graphics card ?

Hi quick question my m8s gonna get Autodesk Maya software to use on this Quadcore/4gig pc but hes asked me what type of graphics card can he go for ?

Requirements states : Qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL graphics card

But I have no idea so any ideas thx

It means NVIDIA Quadro or ATI FireGL. They aren't cheap.

Edit: You can use a consumer/gaming card, but it won't be accelerated.

Well a cheaper version of a NVIDIA QUADRO i guess is best or if the program also can use CUDA then go for the GTX 460

I use an old Nvidia 8800 works fine with Maya.

Thats interesting ive checked few articles in google and yeah seems a few people have got away with running 8800s / highend gpus and it still runs fine.

I may try just that will see

Has anyone else used this software and got any other suggestions ?
