My celica has a CAT1 system already, but is it worth spending 50 quid on

for that extra visual deterrent?

I would. It may be the difference between a thief smashing a window/door lock or walking past your car to find an easier target.

not sure about this one but the Autolok 2000 had a serious fauly which meant it could be removed in about 5 seconds , hopefully they have changed the design

Lol Wish I'd read rottys post before I went on a well known auction website and bought myself the one that the original poster showed us!!!

try to get one which covers the whole steering wheel - it offers the maximum protection as it prevents you from turning the wheel. the one in the pic works by the bottom bit being obstructed by something in else in the car (usually centre console). if you shop around you could get it for about £50 too...

i have that one , stopped using it though as it scratches the leather on the steering wheel ( on the Scooby , not tried it on the M3 but it has a much thicker wheel so would expect it to be worse )

that one works by the fact that it just freely spins on the steering wheel

yeah, i just want to stop the people that wanna jump in my car and try to drive it off, plus its a large visual deterrent that they dont wanna be getting off while the alarm is blaring.

Yep anyone who wants your car will get it. I saw a program about these and some on them are pathetic, if you "know" how to remove them they can be off in under a minute! Some with just a felt-tip pen lid.

The best one apparently is the full disc one Phantom posted but even still the wrong sort of people know how to remove these.

I've just got one of the stick type locks for my wheel, it's only a deterrent really, £50 seems a little steep for something that essentially doesn't work to me. Plus they're bulky buggers and I don't want to lug it around :p

yeah, my plan is to stop the casual theif.

just bought the entire wheel disklok from a local shop for a good price :)

Yep thats my thinking. Never going to stop a professional thief but if it puts off the joy riders then great..
