Automatic CPU overclocking. How to start it?

I hear people speaking about automatic overclocking. Im starting to look into it but i cant find a lot of info about it.
Is it on certian motherboards that can do it ?
My motherboard is a MSI P55 GD65 (for now )

If not whats the best program what can overclock? i hate going into the bios to change things. My aim is to get a stable 4.0ghz. I can get 4.0 but it tends to crash when playing games ( but survives prime 95 for 3 hours )

I think programs that overclock for you tend to do it badly (too many volts in the biggest culprit)

What's wrong with going into the bios?

Best by far to do it in the BIOS. It's not all that much effort until you get to the fringes of stability.
