Hi,

Windows has stopped automatically logging me in and is now pausing at the logon screen as if i've setup a password on my account. I tried fixing it last night by fiddling around with a few things but somehow made it worse. How can I stop it from pausing and make it just automatically log me in?

Thanks :)

If you've recently installed the .NET Framework (not sure which version caused the problem), make sure you've run Windows Update to install all of the service packs and updates - this was a little bug that was fixed after a few updates.

If you're up-to-date, then click start > run, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes), and uncheck the "users must enter a username and password to use this computer" tickbox. When you click OK you'll be asked for a username and password, type your windows username, leave both password boxes empty (assuming you have no password) and you should be automatically logged in again.

I'm pretty certain i'm up to date with the Windows Updates. What you've described above is actually what I tried last night, only when it came to the logon screen, it automatically logged me in as "Administrator" and not my personal account so all my personal settings were lost
