THIS IS BROKEN FOR THE TIME BEING DUE TO OUR SERVER BEING WIPED :(
I should be able to get it back up and running soon.

This is still in testing at the moment. Please let me know how you get on

I've made an automated script that everyone on here can use to automatically resize an image to something that conforms to the forum rules.

All you need to do is change your image url to the following format:

Code:
http://linktart.co.uk/ocuksig/?http://yoursigimagelink

For example, in my own signature:

Code:
http://bfbc2.statsverse.com/sig/clean1/pc/FrenchTart.png

Becomes:

http://linktart.co.uk/ocuksig/?http://bfbc2.statsverse.com/sig/clean1/pc/FrenchTart.png

All signature images are cached on the LinkTart server for 1 hour. All this means is that non-static images (e.g. stat sigs) will only update once every 1 hour. The rest of the time they'll stay the same. There's no need to save the image - it won't be automatically deleted from the server.

I guess it's useful for those don't know how to use Paint.Net/Photoshop/PaintShop (or are too lazy) so good job.

Just one question, you mentioned that "All signature images are cached on the LinkTart server for 12 hours." does that mean you want to users to run the script, see the resized image, save it and then rehost via their existing host of choice? The 12hr thing seems to imply the resized images would be gone after said amount of time thus making what I mentioned in the previous sentence mandatory :)

What I meant by that is that the image won't 'update' for 12 hours. This is really designed for people wanting to use things like the BFBC2 stats sigs that update frequently and fall outside the forum rules in terms of size limits.

Obviously for someone with a static sig it makes far more sense to simply resize it yourself and host it somewhere :)

edit: I've tried to update the info in the first post to make the meaning more obvious.

You need to enclose your sig within [ img] tags as usual :)

edit:

Now you've posted:

Code:
http://http//linktart.co.uk/ocuksig/?http://bfbc2.statsverse.com/sig/clean1/pc/DukeRaoul2010.png

but it should be:

Code:
http://linktart.co.uk/ocuksig/?http://bfbc2.statsverse.com/sig/clean1/pc/DukeRaoul2010.png

this is new to me!!!

but thanks fella i'm very pleased with this now. i'm not much of a poster. more of a reader, but someday soon when the 'gf's out i hope to join you fellas on one of the ocuk servers.

No worries. I was just trying to help you out :)

Hopefully this will continue to work okay for everyone.

You seem to be compressing them a bit much, or is that just the source?

You're right - it's a little on the ott side at the moment. I'll play with the settings now and clear the cache.

good work h0b0 :)

Now everyone gets to see my awful stats :p

Damn you! When did you overtake me on rank? :*( Damn my lack of time to play atm.

You're using OUR server for this without consulting me? Absolutely proposterous!

:p

Sorry, y0 :) To be honest, if it starts to mess up the server performance in any way I'll of course get rid, or limit things in some way.

That's probably to save his bandwidth, seeing as he's doing this for free for everyone :p

Thanks :) But he's actually right - I have perhaps been a little too keen with the compression.

especially as I now know the server you're hosting it on, and I'm sure you've got plenty of bw spare :)

Pah, we only get 3TB/month of transfer :p

edit: played with the compression settings and think I'll just change over to using .pngs. Jpegs look awful even with as low compression as possible. Not sure how 20KB pngs will compare to 20KB jpegs though.

Okay.. I've checked the time stamps on the sigs and it looks like things are working okay. Can people let me know if they notice anything funny or that the sigs aren't updating/etc.

How does the sig look when you got to the website itself? If it looks the same as the one showing here then my side of things is okay (and it's the stats site that is wrong). If the stats site is up to date and your sig is still showing the same stats as it did over 12 hours ago, something at my end is wrong.
