Hello All!

Currently looking for a supermini for my mother, she's had both of her knees replaced and finds manuals hard to drive thus she has had an automatic golf for the past 2 cars. Her current car is a mk6 golf 1.6 auto and probably covers about 400 miles every 6-7 weeks.

She is looking for a new car and is considering a Polo or perhaps Fiesta however is open to suggestions, the car is going to need to be at most 3 years old, automatic with some power (read able to get along without effort, not need for something sporty as it won't be used). Petrol is obviously preferred and new may be considered based on price. Failing that it is a free for all, crossovers may also be considered as she finds it easier to go up into a car rather than down.

Really just looking for advice and suggestions so please just tell me what you think.

Thanks

It will most likely be something like the polo with a DSG box just really after some more ideas and if anyone has had any experience of these cars (auto supermini I imagine not so much).

I drove a 2012 Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSI with a DSG box the other day. It was a perfectly acceptable town car.

A work colleague bought a brand new 2013 Polo and it's been in and out of the garage several times for silly faults and build quality issues.

NOT a Peugeot 207. The box is awful.

You might want to try some before you commit. Cars which have the electronically shifting manual style 'auto' box are very very slow to respond compared to a conventional auto. The VAG DSG box is much better than these in all aspects.
