for some reason my Vista64-SP2 Laptop (in Sig) can't seem to check for updates!?...

I get an Error 80070424.. which says the Services needed to run the Automatic updates are dissabled or summut!...

On checking the services it says are not running, I find they are!?

Anyone else getting this error??...

Is there summut wron with Microsoft's update service, or has my Laptop gone a bit wonky?!..

Cheers
Sim :)

Took this from an other forum.

Verify that BITS is correctly configured and started:

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
2. Double-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
3. In the Startup type box, click Manual, and then click Apply.
4. Click the Log On tab, and then verify that the service is enabled in every hardware profile that
is listed. If the service is disabled in one or more hardware profiles, click the hardware profile,
click Enable, and then click Apply.
5. Click the General tab, and then click Start.

If that's all okay, then perhaps:-

1. Click Start.
2. Choose Run.
3. In the Run box, type (pressing okay after the command) :-
Regsvr32 QMGR.DLL

or
Re-install BITS by running the BITS setup again - manual download of the BITS package
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773)
