Autorun - can it be set up to do nothing when a drive is inserted?

I am trying to set up my USB hard drive to do nothing when it is plugged in rather than having Windows scan the drive looking for things to do.

Is there a command that I can put in an Autorun.inf file that tells Windows to do nothing?

I don't want to disable autorun on the PC, just this particular drive.

Um. I have never actually tried it with a usb drive, but have you tried holding down the left shift key when plugging the drive in?

I know you can hold shift to stop cd/dvd's using autorun, never tried it with a usb drive.

Yep, that works but I was hoping to go down the route of having the drive do nothing by default so that I don't have to hold the shift button.

I think if you have the XP Powertool "TweakUI", you can enable/disable autorun by drive letter.

Not for removable drives unfortunately.

Just checked, TweakUI has an option for "Enable Autoplay for Removable Drives" - uncheck this.

If you want to be sure you can always uncheck the drive letters except your CD/DVD drives too, that's also an option.
