Autosports International NEC Jan 2012

I am, heading down to the NEC with my friend Tom. The driver line up is incredible, which days do they normaly turn up at? we'r heading down on the sunday, unlike top gear live we are going to get there at doors open :) and take our sweet time over the event and not miss a single thing........

a question for people who have been there before.

when I went to top gear live back in Nov, they had a park and ride section which you pay so much and you get to have a fast ride in a supercar of your choice. would they have this at autosport?

I've not seen super cars, but they do have a hall usually filled with karting and rides in permanently sideways Caterhams. Spend too long in there and your clothes will smell of burnt rubber :)

General public. Queue up, pay your money, have a blast.

I did the Caterham experience last year. Great fun, but the wait was about an hour!

If its the same layout as last year, the karting and Caterhams will be on route to the Live Action Arena.

Is it worth paying the £100 for the VIP tickets or £37 for the paddock tickets or is it better to go for the normal tickets?

I can only comment on what people have told me about Top Gear Live but my next door neighbour took her little lad on a VIP ticket to TG Live and she said it was a total waste of money as they got little of the inside story they were promised, said the presenters didn't give them any time and the back stage stuff was crap.

I go on a trade day to Autosports so you tend to get more freedom to nose around and don't get the same level of crowding. If you can get there on the Thursday or Friday I would urge you to do so unless you are keen to see some racin driver interviewed.

yeah, i got the silver tickets for tg and my friend got a plat ticket, not worth the money :)

Thats my point. I think some people are thinking this is something that it isn't. Its basically a massive trade event with some stuff to draw in the public. Its a good day out, but not something that sells out of tickets, :).

Exactly, but for a motorsport student like me it's also a great opportunity to bag some free stuff and chat about work opportunities :p
