My girlfriend now has her Leon company car (and it's quite nice, I must say :o ) and so it's now time to sell her Auris.

I'm struggling to decide whether to start off with Autotrader or eBay? Listing it on Autotrader for two weeks is over twice the price of an eBay classified, but something tells me it's going to get more exposure and be easier to sell that way.

What are your experiences?

With a car like an Auris I'd bung it on auto trader - (generalisations ahead) you'll get the generation of people who can't quite get their heads around buying something from eBay but have always defaulted to looking at autotrader, plus most people looking on eBay will check there too

Well I've stuck it on AT with similar thinking to you.. So we'll see what happens!

Gumtree for cheap cars, eBay + gumtree for cars with a bit of value, AutoTrader + eBay + gumtree for cars with a higher value is how I would do it.

I tried gumtree for the sale of my £1000 car, had no less than 15 time wasters and 1 tyre kicker who gave me an offer of £100 about 10 times in the space of a minute.

Put it on Autotrader and sold it for asking within 3 hours of the advert going live.

Gumtree has always been a massive waste of time for me, regardless of what I'm selling.

eBay motors on a classified ad with a set price so nobody can waste your time bidding or clicking buy it now. Every car I have owned has always sold within 2 weeks on eBay motors and once on Gumtree within 24hrs.
Autotrader is a waste of time and certainly not worth double the price of listing on eBay. All you will get is traders ringing you offering to take it off your hands for lol money.
