Autumn 2016 purchase, options?

Hope Sony do a proper compact (something more compact than their 4.5" ZxCs), even if it's only mid-range.

I still miss my 3.5" Xperia U. Would go back to it if it weren't running such an old version of Android.

You're in luck. Sony have announced theX compact which should satisfy anyone looking for a Z compact like device.

I'll get a look at the new Google phones, but it's looking likely that I may opt to keep the Z3c for a third year.

Is it just me, or are mobile phones hitting a ceiling in terms of innovation and reasons to upgrade?

Nope not just you, I had my last phone for 3 years as didn't feel much need to upgrade. Unless anything comes along that you really want I'd stick with what you have. Boring answer but still...

If I was in the market for a new phone right now I'd be waiting for the new Nexus devices.

Considering leaving Android for iPhone tbh

But I don't use my phone that much atm, so not sure I can justify the price but I like the idea of fresh air.

I'm going to upgrade my phone that I have had since 2012 (a Nexus 4) soon to one of the new Google Nexus phones which are going to be released soon. All I want in an Android phone is stock Android with none of the silly addons that people like Samsung add to their phones. So really Nexus phones are my only real option. From what the rumours say it looks like I'll be getting the 5" one as 5.5" is just too big for me.

Just so you know, Project Ara is due to be released around the end of Autumn.

I am i n the same situation as op, was gonna get the note 7 but the recall has me delayed while the new iphone 7 and nexus phone is being announced :(

not sure where to go from here...

The consumer version of Ara was supposed to launch in 2017, but that doesn't matter now because Google has scrapped the entire project.

I really don't know what to get. My M8 is getting old, the camera sucks and the USB port is being really screwy now.

Right now my main contender is the soon-to-be-announced LG V20, because it has a card slot, removable battery and LG usually has half decent cameras, plus it's going to be an audiophile dream with a good DAC. LG software is said to be pretty bad though, and I hate that they've gotten rid of the V10's almost tactical-like look.

Outside of that, there's really nothing that impresses me.

HTC 10 is probably the best Android flagship out there at the moment. Samsung I can't get on with the bloatware - even though they have tons of RAM and fast processors there's always lags. It kills me :(

If you can handle the size then One Plus 3 is a good option.

The new Nexus phones are being made by HTC but look really chunky as hell and also have huge top and bottom bezels that are useless because HTC has removed the speakers from them.

Also will be buying a new phone outright in the coming month or two . My 1520 is being a little temperamental and fancy a switch to Android.
Looking at spending no more than £350(hopefully) and waiting to see what's on the horizon. OP3 is winning at the minute but open to suggestions, decent size screen is a must.

OP, S7 Edge would be first on my list, great screen, great size, great battery (even if you dont use the Edge features)

I was drawn to the S7 over the edge, if I was going to go Samsung. Does the edge have any advantage over the S7 other than screen size and the edge features? Is battery life or resolution better? Anything to look out for there?
