Auzentech X-Plosion or Abit IP35 on board sound

i've got a Medusa 5.1 Surround headset, should i get the Auzentech X-Plosion DTS Connect 7.1 Sound Card - Retail or is it overkill? I don't have any fancy surround sound system, just the headset.

Onboard sound is usually pants... You will hear the difference with good headphones yes.

EDIT:
Although something more basic like the Creative Xtreme Music would do fine.
