can i run my x-fi through an av amp?
to solve my speaker problem

Which x-fi have you got? The Fatal1ty has a nice handy optical output on the front box that run an amp with a built in decoder. I think the basic one has only a line out.

you can still run it to an amp of any kind with both methods of output but only optical out of course if your amp has optical in...

Bearing in mind this will only give surround sound in true fashion if you're passing sound straight from a DVD to the amp.
