Hi all,

again I'm at a loss about what I should do,

i need to get some speakers for my man cave I don't have a clue when it comes to AVs and Speakers so I would rather get a speaker package I'm not hardcore about it just want something that works and does the job I want it to do.

what I need it for is my LG C1 tv connected is a ps5 and Xbox series x I play game a lot and watch a lot of tv and movies.

i have around £2000 to spend (would rather not) first thing is I would like to have white speakers because stuff I have is white units computer desk etc. on that note there isn't much white speakers about. so black would be ok also as a second choice.

what i have been looking at is

Denon AVC-X4700H 9.2 Channel AV Receiver, Black - with Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1 Speaker Package, White and I can add some ATMOS later

or

Denon AVC-X4700H 9.2 Channel AV Receiver, Black - with Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.2 Speaker Package, Black.

I can also get a package deal -- Denon AVC-X4700H AV Receiver & Diamond 5.1.4 Speaker Package, Black for the same price as the one above which comes with 4 atmos. it know prop not needed :D

what are peoples input and thoughts please remember I'm not a rich man I can just about afford £2000 which I have saved for a long time but i have wanted a decent av speaker system for a long time and the one i have is like 8 years old and only a blu ray player.

thank you.

Not a bad starter system only weak point is the sub I had same one it was ok for smaller room.

Imo white speakers stand out in home cinema use they are distracting especially for lcr.

I've owned the smaller 9.0 nice sound and for the £50 price a bargain.

which speaker package are you talking about the 5.1.2 or the 5.1.4 ? the room is small so a small sub would be fine i tend to turn the sub down.

X3800 all the way. X4700 is old tech, only 1x 120Hz 4k input Vs 6 on the X3800.

X3800 can also drive 11 speakers, 4 of which can be heights plus subwoofers.

ok ill go with the X3800 as it seems to make sense, I would like a speaker package as I I'm not hardcore enough and I don't want to pick one speaker then pick another and so on a package speaker as a starter would be fine for me please

Check the number of amplifier channels, ie if you want 7.1.4 you probably need to step up a couple of models if you don't want additional power amplifiers

Small room mate i don't want to over do it on speakers I'm thinking 5.1.2 would be enough, if i need some at a later date i could add to more.
if your job is to confuse me its working :P i just want a AV with speakers that does what i need it to do ie my LG C1 for movies and Tv shows xbox series x and PS5 for gaming

Guessing you're looking av.com by the some of the bundles you've listed, I was initially tempted to suggest the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.2 Speaker Package, Black at £625 rather than the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.4 Speaker Package, Black at £749 - the £125 difference adds 2 more Atmos height speakers which could be added for £140 yourself later and to pair that package with your choice of receiver - such as the X3800 at £1,200 from Richer Sounds as suggested above. You'd be at a total of £1,825 for an X3800 with 5.1.2 or £1,950 for X3800 with 5.1.4.

Then I looked at the X4700 with 5.1.4 AV Bundle you mentioned and noticed it's £1,899, which sits right in the middle.

It does seem a decently priced bundle and there's not much in the way of deals being offered including the X3800 by the look of it.

Does the X3800 feel like it's worth an extra £50 over the X4700 is the question?

the extra £50 for the av yes if it has 6 hdmi that support 120mz as the x4700 only supports one hdmi.. that would mean i would have to choose tv xbox or ps5

I'm trying to find you a speaker package that is much better than that wharfedale. If it's still available for £800 I would recommend you get that over the wharfedale setup.

It's THX Ultra, build is much better plus it's got all four atmos atmos height speakers already (upfirers)

The Wharfedale Setup is a webpage or forum page ?

what?

Click on that audioholics link I posted, that's the 5 speaker kit that might be available (the center, front pair, rear pair), I'm waiting his reply.

Since it has atmos built in, it's 5.0.4. You'll just need a active subwoofer, and you can choose from any brand and model.

i get you now, buy 2 sets of them speakers (pair) i will have 4 with atmos and i would just need a sub and av.

In which case i'd personally be aiming for the X3800 from Richer Sounds at £1,200 and pair it with the 5.1.2 speaker package, which leaves you a chunk of your budget to throw into stands/cables/connectors etc.

deffo going to go with the X3800 i tied between getting - Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1 Speaker Package, White and adding 2 atmos like Mission LX-3D MkII Surround Speaker (Pair), White more or maybe later depending on the cost of plugs wires stands etc.

or the --Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.4 Speaker Package, Black which is the same price as above.

difference is ones package is white one is black, white packages i can have 2 atmos black package comes with 4 for the same price.

ok just one thing, I DO not like wood looking speakers, I just don't like them its my personal preference white speakers or I could have black as a second choice, i DO not want second hand speakers i know you all like it and go crazy for them but again I don't like them. I wouldn't be happy with second hand speakers. I now they are cheaper and great to start off with but just NO.

I'm going to get a AV Denton x3800 which will leave me with around £800 for speakers. wires and plugs I have set aside other funds for that.

I know you all like massive subs but my room is small and the bass wouldn't be up that loud, it will be for watching movies @ a low ish level.. my speakers I have now never went past 30-40%

please just help me find a speaker package or separate speakers that are decent, fit my preference and and work with the x3800

thank you

Thank you everyone for the help.

i got my Denon X3800 today as well as my speaker package, i have set it all up and its sounding great only thing is it didnt come with the Sub cable im i right in thinking i only need the one cable for it.

thank you

There's the wharfedale d3003d that will match brand
Definitely you'll want to go into wooden beam not into plaster

i have them one bud, just trying to figger out how i mount them on the celling they come with wall mounts just not safe for celling. is there a bracket i need to use for cellling mounting please

Hi sorry for he late reply, i went with the Denon AVC-X3800H (Black) and Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 HCP 5.1.2 Speaker Package, Black all setup, atmos on the celing. looking and sounding great.. white one would have been abit much tbh glad i went with the black in the end.

thank you all for the help.
