Hi all, so atm I am cutting holes in my av cabinet shelves and wondered what controller/fans you all are using on your systems. I was looking at the ac infinity but they have stopped selling on the rainforest in the uk and delivery is a killer from the states. So for space I need a couple of 120mm fans and a controller (hopefully thermostatic) is there any help in here ?
Thanks

I just got a couple of 120mm USB powered fans. Decent ones that are very quiet. Turn on when the various things turn on. Works fine.

Could probably do something more complicated, but no point.

Not much help to you but I got a colleague to bring over a couple AC Infinity Multifan S2s to sit on top of my amplifier. It sits in an IKEA cabinet with doors and I took off the back (you can't see it anyway). The S2s sit on top of the amp and throw air out the back. Seems to work very well. I figured if I'm spending that much on an amp I may as well spend another £50 odd to look after it. Heat is a killer. They plug into the USB out on the amp so just magically turn on when it does. Very easy :)

I use a bitfenix recon with a dual 12v+5v PSU from an old external DVD drive plugged in to the switched AC outlet on my onkyo. Unit switches on and off with the amp, has 4 channels, 4 temp sensors etc. Right now just have two 120mm fans in the bottom of the cabinet under the amp. Does a grand job for not very much money.

Thanks all, need something to work thermostatically after stuff turns off to get rid of residual heat, if I switch it all off and go to bed the heat just sits there and if a recording starts up shortly it will fail due to heat

How are you turning them on when everything else turns on?
They're plugged into usb ports on the devices. Device turns on, so does the fan. Just on the amp and skyq box atm, but have had then on consoles too.

Barnacles has just done a video on youtube about some usb fans he really rates. Look to be only 60-80mm though.

I don’t have a usb that I can use to power my fans, so does anyone know where to get a 12v trigger module/ controller that I can use one of the receiver triggers ?

Doesn’t a Q box always power the usb? As it’s never really “off”.

Does your amp have a USB port on the back? Only ever seen amps with them on the front.

Q box, yeah it does. But that's ok as it's running all the while anyway.
Amp has a basic power only port on the back. 5v 500ma. Labelled DC Out. 2amp version on the front though. Yamaha something or other, 5ish years old.

Interested in this as well actually.

Will be putting all my AV equipment in a cupboard out of sight and was going to put cooling fans on the front.

I'll probably just have them on 24/7 but having it thermostatically controlled might make sense - although I'd probably just have them come on when the AMP gets turned on.

Off the top of my head I was probably going to...

Get a couple of 120mm USB powered fans (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120mm-Si...m2603b12c64:g:fGcAAOSwG3RbpPkC&frcectupt=true)
Get a couple of USB plug sockets
Plug them into a power strip with master socket (that means the fans only go on when the main piece of equipment is drawing power)

I really wanted an ac infinity set up but amazon stopped selling them in the uk, only get USA sellers now and the cost is way too high, atm I am using a couple of 12v Antec pc fans with speed switches connected to an old 12v plug type power supply and will test for a few weeks then decide what to upgrade with
