AV Cables for iPhone 3G

just wondering, are all av cables compatible with the iP3G? i would quite like to be able to output to the tv (i know it would mean encoding to AppleTV settings instead of iPhone in VisualHub and the files will be bigger but no worries) so can i use any cable such as this one which looks nice:

its says just for 5g ipods so will it work?

not sure if AV Cables work with the iPhone, can't say I have ever come across the question before.

Not sure if the 'generic' iPod cables are the same as the iPhone ones! There is a guide on that linked page - have a look at the bottom. I must admit I am none the wiser.

you have to use the apple ones because they contain a chip that makes it work

PeteNem has had bad experience with a 3rd party one. The apple one is recommended.
