After installing a couple of 2008R2 servers for using the new Hyper-V, we find out that Kaspersky Server doesnt yet support R2. This leaves us somewhat in a hole. Any recommendations for for a server AV product we can use in the meantime whilst KAV pull their fingers out.?

cheers

Probably unhelpful, but you should really check your existing software is compatible before installing a new OS...

We were told it would.

But we had a KAV engineer here for a day, and he failed to get it working, then reported back to us this morning that it wont work.

Its very shody. The engineer admitted that the Enterprise KAV is miles behind the consumer version.

We jumped ship from Sophos to KAV last year on a whim, the person who made that decision should be slapped.

I've always been really impressed by KAV, I'd much rather have a mature stable product than one that's constantly changing.

This is what happens when you adopt an os the moment it's released in a production environment

We need Hyper-V R2, it does everything we want and costs virtually nothing. Yes we are rushing in, but we've been testing it for ages with the Beta/RC so it's not that new to us.

Detection and cleanup rates with our Sophos AV are ****ing abysmal. All sorts of extra work doing stuff by hand to get it fixed up.

The only reason we're with Sophos is because they gave us a very good deal on the AV + Puremessage, which was considerably less than individual appliances and other subscriptions.

Yup, we had the same issues with Sophos, so we changed to KAV, but we see the same problems. They are probably all as good/bad as each other. You certainly cant rely on them nowadays.

Just reading that Sophos also dont have an R2 product available, as they say its not released until Oct :(
