AV program on USB stick?

I don't like having too many apps running in the background and as I'm behind multiple hardware firewalls and careful with my internet usage I tend not to need an AV program. Still, I'd like to put my mind at rest and perform a virus scan once in a while. Are there any AV progs that can work from a USB stick?

There is a free on-line scanner, it wont remove, but it will inform:

portableapps.com (this is a good place to start for usb apps) has clamav iirc.
