Hey all.
I have a Sony DA5200ES 7.1 AV Receiver.
Front speakers are Boston A26.
Rear speakers are Celiston Ditton 22 (Dad paid ~£200 for them in 1978!).
Sub is some 10 year old Argos POS.

Hooked up to it are a range of older consoles, with the newest being the PS3.

The problem:
- The PS3 works fine in 4.1.
- The PC just doesn't like it. It has an Nvidia HDMI graphics card and both sound and video are sent to the AV receiver through it. If I go into the sound settings and set up surround sound then the sub woofer just doesn't do anything. If I set it to 2 channel audio the sub works.

I realise that the PC is an old Core 2 Duo with onboard sound, but even if I got a sound card would it even work when the sound comes via HMDI?
Any films etc. that I have come with various sound encoding, but I know it is the PC as even music won't use the sub.

Any ideas? (Aside from buy a new set of speakers :p).
