I have a very basic Sony 5.1 system but the receiver is on its way out and I'm looking to upgrade. Until now I have only used it for audio so what are the benefits of running the video through it?

Current system is:
Sony STRDE-475 receiver with supplied Sony speakers and active sub
Toshiba LCD (HDMI)
Toshiba upscaling DVD player (HDMI)
Sky HD (HDMI)
Occasionally connect the 360 to it aswell.

So most my connections are HDMI now. I'm looking around at second hand mid-range amps to base my new system around. Is it worth getting a Denon 2106 or similar or should I get a Sony G700 with HDMI in/out?

Obivioulsy I will then over time upgrade all the speakers and the receiver budget is max £250.

Thanks.
