Bit of an odd question but is it possible, with AV recievers which can upconvert a component signal to HDMI, to pass a VGA signal through them to the HDMI port by using on of the normal VGA to component adaptors (i.e. on of the £2 ones).

Reason for askings this is that im prety sure jsut because these adaptors change the connections, they don't change the singal as such to a component signal (I have a sharp LC-42xD1E, which only has a VGA port, and you attch component via a converter to the VGA port and then have to slecet between the signal type in the menu).

What you say I believe is correct, but it would be possible for internal electronics to use the vga port to recieve a component signal, it's just wires afterall and component only needs 3. Seems an odd way to go about it but if it works there must have been a reason.

Reason for it is so I could connect an XBOX 360 VGA cable to the AV Reciever via the converter and then upconvert it to HDMI as my TV will only recieve 1080p through HDMI and I have a HD DVD drive. Expensive way to do it, but id get all the advantages of switching, cable management. Plus I have an amp to sell anyway.
