The season to upgrade my sound system is here. Ideally, I am after a very decent amp possibly with Dolby atmos. Any recommendations please?

The amp you choose should be a choice you make along with the speakers, not before. Certain amps sound better with certain speakers. For example, if you want a KEF system, Marantz should be your choice. KEF demos their systems with Marantz amps often at trade shows.

Also different people have different ideas of what a very decent amp is.

Do you mean decent like

Or decent like

Do not Hotlink images.

I just purchased a Denon AVR‑X3300W. Nice piece of kit. You can pick one up for £600 now and it's got everything you would require.
