avast has just gone insane and is reporting everything as a virus, unfortunately for me i deleted a few things out of panic before realised it was all false positives (%$^£$&*$%&*%^!£$%^"&^"$ sake) and have basically destroyed my install of fruity loops. thankfully i just installed it again on my external HD to be safe and copied over all the extra files and plugins from my old install and it works, now i was wondering, to be safe, is it ok to have an install of fruity loops on my external USB HD and to use that as my main copy, or will it run noticeably slower when using it? i imagined it wouldnt as surely my pc caches all essential files for running it to the RAM, and the read time for files off the external HD wont be hugely different to that of my internal HD (probably quicker as my internal one is full of ess haych eye tee)

cheers

thankfully it deleted not only the .exe but the uninstall.exe as well, to create more problems. it had to be the most important app on my pc that i tried to open just as it decides to go mental, so helpful

Yep, Avast has now crapped up Spybot SD on my HTPC and now I am having all sorts of problems trying to run or reinstall it. After checking that Google link, looks like it is a common problem. What the hell were the people at Avast thinking?

Oh no hope my computer at home is ok. updates automatically, will they be bringing a patch out to fix this soon.

How lucky is that ! I switched to MSE 3 weeks ago after years of Avast.

Yeah luckily I am running MSE alongside and I may as well just uninstall Avast if they don't sort this out soon.

Never run two AV programs, it just kills your performance

Every AV maker releases a bad update now and again (I really don't see how they get through the testing stage sometimes!)

I mean surely they have multiple VM's or computers that they test them on

yeah just click avs update and the new update fixes it, i think they released it in like 3 hrs

i just disabled avast on access protection for a few hours till they fixed it
