Avast - help setting up

I have been using AVG 8 with no problems but had seen that Avast was recommended by quite a few people.

But it's slowing internet browsing down and when I've tried to upload images I've got a page load error message:

Connection Interrupted
The document contains no data.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

I'm not really sure If I've missed any obvious settings that I need to have ticked/unticked, left most things at defualt - I'm a total Anti-virus noob to be honest! Never had a virus that has caused me hassle and just got used to the simple settings in AVG :o

I've got Zonealarm running as well, in case that makes a difference.
 
Never had any of the probs your getting with it I just install it, leave everything at default and it works fine.
Sounds a problem with it and Zonealarm.
 
Zonealarm is a bit cack these says to be honest. You could try comodo firewall instead. And Avira is the best freeware AV, if you want an alternative.
 
right click on the icon in the taskbar icon and select "stop on access protection" then try steam / uploading etc and see if it makes a difference

ive never had any problems with avast myself
 
Thats strange, I've been getting the same with avasts latest update, pain in the b"£. I have to reset the router to reconnect.
