Hi, im trying to download some files (legit), such as files to replace uxtheme.dll, and other things, but avast recognizes them as a threat and i have no other option except cancel the download.

Anybody know how to ignore these checks? I dont mind scanning files once they are on my hard drive, my bandwith is limited and having to lose a download half way through is a loss.

I dont fancy going back to AVG, i like Avast - just not losing downloads half way though them :o

Thanks!

My FireFox opens in 2 seconds.
After a restart however, it can take up to 4 or 5 seconds, but since I never restart, it never bothers me.

Can I just ask here...

But, I use Avast and I have just gone and downloaded 7 different uxtheme.dll files from various places and not once has it mentioned about any threat.

I would say that you are either trying to get them for a nasty source, that is putting a virus on them, or you are doing something wrong?

Similarly for you too Ease... If FF is takign 90 seconds to start up then what have you done to your PC to make it do this?

While Avast can certainly slow down the execution of apps, just like any other A/V it should not take 90 seconds... Given that Avast is one of the fastest A/V's out there, I would say that there is somehtign else you need to look at.

Have used Avast Home now Avast Pro never had any prob's downloading, etc, just did a straight install never altered any thing. Just set to scan twice a week that's all.

Well I have Avast sitting there in the Notification Area of the Taskbar. With it on, FF takes 90 seconds. If I disable it, or stop the process, or in anyway stop its 'shields' then FF opens instantly. uTorrent is also affected; randomly freezing when Avast is present, but fine otherwise. None of my games seem to be affected at all though.

It's very weird, as AVG has no affect at all, and even when FF is taking an age to start CPU useage is under 30% and Memory useage is under 25%.

Again, I use utorrent and AVAST has no effect on that either.

I think its you or your PC but AVAST is certainly not the problem.

What other software do you have in your PC?

Just done a fresh install of Windows 7100, so only got a few programs on here. Firefox, Chrome, uTorrent, and default Windows programs, and a game or two (Crysis and Mount&Blade). Pretty bare.
