Behind you... Naked!
I threw Vista onto my PC the other day... give it another trial run, this time, I went for Avast A/V and things were looking very good for a change, but Games, movies and Music, would occasionally hang.

I put the issues down to Folding At Home ( on all 4 cores ) and I was sort of looking for a cure and among the things that are new to this PC was my A/V.

I usually use NOD32 but this time I went for AVAST ( More of a vista trial than anything )

So, I decided to go back to NOD32

I switched off my router, uninstalled AVAST and installed NOD32 and when I brought it back up, the internet was slow.

Not just slow, but murderously so!

For example, I have Windows Mail setup with my 2 EMail accounts... It has NEVER managed to get all my Emails from both accounts and in fact unless there are no Emails, it will fail very time!!! - its that bad.

Double clicking the FireFox icon brings up firefox but the homepage can take about 10 to 15 seconds to come up!!! - WTF???

Anyway, just on the off-chance, I installed NOADAWARE to see if that could find anythign and bugger me, before it did any updates it found 7 infections, I was then able to update and it found no more, but NOD32 was totally unable to update what-so-ever.

Needless to say, I have gone back to Avast but that too wont update and fails.

So...

Im thinking, that while I certainly had some nasty, I am very sure that I do not now, so, why was my internet so perfect before and yet it is not now?

I also have a look at the routers settings and there are a couple of UDP options in there wheras before, there was not, so is that Vista that has set those or not?

Im not really all that "UP" on networking so can anyone point me towards finding a solution?

Thanks.
