Avast!

Anyone use this..? Experienced any problems with application hangs etc..

I've recently reinstalled Xp and added a new Raptor H/D as well as changing my AV protection from Norton to Avast..

I'm not sure whther it's the H/D (See here ) or Avast..

The problem is more common in IE but other applications have had problems too.

Looking a the event log, the only error are showing in 'Applications'.

Could it be Avast?


I have the lastest "home" version installed.

I have been running Avast on my Raptor drive for well over a year and have never had any problems with it.

The only thing I can think of is run error checking on your drive. It's always a good idea to do that after installing an OS.

I have it running on wifes laptop. No probs at all.

Been running it for a few years on 2 PC's

No problems whatsoever

I also get my best ever 3D Mark 05 score as my system is now.

I have noticed the the AVAST services occasionally drop meaning I has to go into services and reset the services.

Huddy thats not normal. It may be worth running a scandisk thorough of your new hard drive just in case. After that try re-installing Avast as it may have had problems during the first install.

Yes that's it, I didn't know it was called that.

Not all of Avast services are runnning all the time.

Right click on the Avast icon and select On Access Protection Control as long as that's running your OK.
