I've managed to bork a 3GHz HT P4 with 512Mb RAM (soon to be 1Gb) and have set up two clients on it. Now I know that having two reduces the time to complete a WU, but the production for the PC seems to be a bit low?

I'm getting 65 and 67 ppd on each client, so 132 ppd overall. The thing is I can get that with my XP 2500 with a reasonable WU  and that doesn't have HT. So, is this lower than normal, just a bad WU, or am I just expecting too much from it?

Got me four of those in the farm - but of late the gromacs 21** get really low PPD (not at all intel friendly)

Current doing these two on my workstation will take four days to complete :(

It's not just Intel with these - all my AMD rigs are getting nothing special for these
Also neither FSB or Cache seem to make much difference at all with these WUs :(

Thanks guys. Yer, it's working on two p2125s, so I guess it's just the WUs. I'm running in on 'don't do the RAM hogging WUs' atm until I get some more RAM for it.

Hopefully I can expect some better ppd when some nice WUs come around again then :).

The "ram hogging" WUs don't actually always use that much RAM - it relates to the download or upload size of the WU being over 5MB
If you're using the 5.04 console client you could allow large WUs but limit the memory the client indicates - from looking at the server status page the servers with 600 point WUs are only looking for clients with 64MB or over so that should be the maximum one of those would need

Of course you might want to only do that on one client of each HT machine just incase :o :D

That's good to know :D I think I'm the only one here with a 100% intel farm, and sometimes that no good thing :D

So far only the 2096 (40mb) and 2409/14 (110mb) have been ram heavy - most never get over 10mb.
