Had the Avengers 10900k in my wishlist for payday

1 x Intel Core i9-10900K Avengers Edition 3.7GHz (Comet Lake) Socket LGA1200 Processor - Retail= £479.99

Went on there yesterday to order but jumped up to £559 and today its now £659

Overclockers say its because of supply issues but they had 10+ in stock so seems like a huge increase over a couple of days.

Makes the decision on whether to wait for Zen3 a bit easier I guess, not that I have any expectations of getting hold of one if recent launches are anything to go by.

Don’t even consider this CPU mate. Just make sure you’re at the computer on Zen 3 launch and try to grab one as fast as you can. People were saying about the availability issue on the Zen 2’s last year. I was on the website at 2pm, typed like lightning to get the order done and got a 3900X delivered the next day.

Ill consider all CPUs.

If Zen 3 gives a CPU at the same prices thats better then Ill get it. At £479 the i9 was at least £60 cheaper than the 5900x ,which may shoot up if the 30 series cards are any guide and probably wont be available anyway ,so was then a very real option.

However at £659 its absurd, the 5900x will be much cheaper and no doubt faster, I dont understand the pricing at all. OC said its due to supply issues, but if thats the price they get them for there is no point getting any as its not going to sell.

Intel announces massive price cuts following release of zen 3 - 10900k was £659.99 now only £479.99

Id be happy if that was the case, I thought it was hence I was going to buy it this week, but looks like it was an error to me.

Well it was £560 so, then it went down to £479a couple of weeks ago but this week it went back to £570 then the next day up to to £659. (for the avengers edition)

The Non avengers one is out of stock at £599 but is available around £560 elsewhere.

Will see what happens with Zen3 but doubt it will be purchasable anytime soon.

I see from leaked scores on a single core the 5800X may well be quicker than the 10900k.

So for gaming the 10900k certainly looks like a waste of time right now

Yeah unless your absolutely dead set on Intel you may as well wait for zen 3 to come out now. Not only is it supposed to be faster but also you have benefits of pci-e 4 and lower power consumption.

All intel could offer now is really a price reduction. From a technical perspective it is likely they will not have anything over AMD once zen 3 arrives.

Id rather stick with intel because its established and what I know, but have no qualms changing if I get a quicker CPU for the same money.

Ive waited a month to see what zen3 was like, now waiting till Nov 5th to see reviews and see if it will actually be possible to buy one :)
