I have just checked and my CorsairTX 850W V2 is almost 5 years old! Is there an everage life for a PSU and could someone recommend one on here

All the ones I have looked at are out of stock  - I have looked at 5 different ones from different brands, do OcUK even sell PSUs now?

My Corsair was from here years ago

Before being told to buy 850w, what's it actually got to power? A quality 550w psu is more than enough for just about any single gpu setup even when overclocking. Sli 970/crossfire 380 is easily powered by a 650w psu (750w if on X99), sli 980's/crossfire 290/390 by a 750w psu. A 850w unit is only needed for the likes of 980ti sli or crossfire 290x/390x or similar.

Thanks
Would the 550 be sufficient if I decide to get another 980 Ti in the future?
What purpose do the bright white LEDs serve, other than using up power that could be used somewhere else?

Thanks. I will probably go for a SuperNova P2 850W staying loyal to EVGA and see it has a 10 year warranty! Do OcUK sell Seasonic, are they really worth the extra money as I have read they are the best - but maybe its just the name now, im not sure.

OP - Did you RMA your TX PSU? If you're still within the 5 year period, might as well take advantage of it. If I'm not mistaken, since TX V2 are now EOL, you'll probably get an RM or RMx as a replacement, which are excellent PSUs within its category.

Excellent, thanks Greybeard! I didnt even think of that, it still has 6 months left on the warrantly. I'll RMA it and sell the replacement as have bought the EVGA one now.
