average qwaudcore temp

mines 50c,44c,44c,50c load about 95-100%

My temp has been worrying me for a few days. At stock speeds idle temps were around 52-55 for all 4 cores of my Q9450, going up to 65-70 under load. This seemed a bit high, and I am using a tunig tower with AS5.

However, since I took one of my 8800GTX cards out of the SLI setup for some testing, my CPU temp has now dropped down to a respectable 38-45 at idle? wtf. Why would my extra gfx card effect the CPU temp so much??

Most likely because of the vast amount of heat that 2 GTX's generate inside a case. In my case 2 GTX's gave me system temps of 50c idle, yet with only 1 my temp is 38c, quite a difference.

I reckon you need better exhaust fans.

Mines a B3 at 3.6GHz getting around 48 idle and up to 65-70 under load. Tuniq tower with AS5.

That is mine, with default intel cooler, default volts. G0 stepping, at idle.

@ 2.4 stock with stock cooler.

This is in an open frame , as i am changing my case at the moment.

I normally run 3.6ghz 24/7 on water at half those temps.

Why do Intel ship these things , as much use as Kojaks' hairdryer.

Q9450 Akasa 925 cooler. Mid 50s idle. Mid 60s under load. (FSX)

Q9300 42-46 idle max 65c prime load.
Has been lapped though also lapped the Zalman 9500.
I know there are better heatsinks out there ala Tuniq etc etc, but the Zalman is doing a good jobs.
I will be building a top spec custom water setup when I get back from holiday, just in time for the summer.
Would like to mention temps are pretty much the same overclocked or not, also have 3870x2 and a 3850 but both have fans drawing air out of case, not sure if it makes a difference.
