Average speed around F1 circuit

Look at it this way. An old Renault F1 car went around the Top Gear track in 59 seconds in very greasy conditions.

F1 drivers in the reasonably priced car do laps around 1:44's

Even the best roadcar they've had did a lap in 1:10 *Caparo T1*

Yes, it would struggle with getting inside 110% of the pole time. And it'd struggle even harder with the actual F1 rule, which is 107%! :p

I couldn't remember exactly :D But at the same time I just couldn't be bothered to go and check!

Isn't there a top gear episode where Stig goes round Imola in a 458?

I suspect the OP was the one that thought it was possible, and his housemate called him on it ;)

even bmw M5 couldnt in 2 mins. with corsa......LOL

edit: i remember old top gear esp.

on silverstone track, they used 3 cars to compare.

F1 was like 1 and half min
ford cougar was like 3 mins.
ford focus rally was like in 2 mins

this one?

You might recognise the F1 driver :)

It is hilarious when you look at it another way...

A Corsa, even a VXR, is only 14 seconds slower than the slowest F1 car this weekend in Qualifying. I suggest after 3 bends the F1 car will have made 14 seconds on the Corsa.

This video is quite telling as well - a "slow, back of the grid" F1 car, utterly demolishing even a Radical. The race-prepper Mini Cooper it passes may as well be parked:

Well the 2000 Arrows was very quick in a straight line, posting near the top of the speed trap charts. PDLR put it in the top three for large portions of the Hockenheim, Nurburgring and A1-ring races, Verstappen was also third for most of Monza. The team finished ahead of Sauber and Jaguar in the WCC as well.

Edit: My bad, its the A22 in the vid. Nevermind then.
