Average Speed Cameras at roadworks

I know of two people who recently got 3 points & £60 fine.
Both got caught in the same roadworks on the M42 a couple of months ago.

another thread, and no one caught

the other day i had to take come off a dual carriageway that had one of these stupid specs systems and as usual all the traffic was bunched up. only safe way was to give it some beans and shot off to 80 ish or so. had done the whole section at 50mph, so ill be sure to let you lot know if you can get caught

I drove along the Bedford bypass roadworks earlier this week, they've now finished fitting these SPECS all along the route whilst construction works continue. What I noticed with one camera in particular, which was mounted to a massive concrete block with a void space below (I suspect as a means of raising it up high enough) was a lack any cables coming out of the base of the pole. I could clearly see the poles exit and I could see that no cables ran along the ground, to me this proved it was a dummy as I cant see them being IP based.

I've now come to the conclusion that roadwork cameras are dummys, a cheap means of slowing traffic when other measures such as signs rarely work. Sites like the M42 and M25 are to my mind working systems. I cant see how its financially viable to configure and install the infrastructure required on temperorary construction sites for 5-10 months.

£60 a pop? they would be making plenty to cover the cost i am sure.

so friends of friends work colleagues etc no one on this, or any other site i post on has been caught by one

how many have openly admitted to speeding through them at a significant pace to trigger them?

I hit a few on Friday night on the A14 on a trip to my Daughter/Grandsons, I'll let you know as I wasn't in the mood for lifting.

The Mrs was done on the M56 a couple of years back. Averaged 56 in the 50 on a Sunday morning with barely another car in sight. 3 points and a fine.

The kind of ticket a officer in a car would have "Consider this a warning, mind how you go"d.

Now we always slow down for them.

I went through Bedford on Friday, let’s just say I’m hoping they don't work. ;)
