Just a quick one for anybody who uses this route. There is a long stretch on the m4 of 50 average speed, but this morning at 2am as I approached the slip road that joins the m4 to m5 going north at m5 j15 there was a national speed limit sign so I accelerated to about 75 but about half a mile onto the m5 only then did I see some more national speed limit signs. anyone know if the cameras continue onto the m5?

Be careful anyway guys!

I did this also last week late at night, in that exact place. There were no 50 signs for quite a while so I assumed it had gone back to 70. :o

Nothing in the post yet though. :p

wierd thing was there was a national speed limit sign on the slip road. Not sure if there was one more camera that could have got us, but it's so confusing!

You should recognise it.

Where did u get that? I assume that's all m5 driving and the last few seconds where the m4 joins to go north? If that's the case then the last camera on that stretch is quite a bit back and I should be good.

I made it myself !!

It's actually the M5 south starting at the junction of the M4 split (J15)

I go through there 3 times a week (both ways)

I get quite irritated at the hypocrites who blast past me travelling at somewhere close to 100mph and then kerfaddle through that section at 48mph..Refusing to sod off into lane 1.

Oh nice vid. I gotta admit I used to be a 90mph but now it's 76 or less as and always 50 in average, but I just dunno if I got done last night as I just hit 75 as soon as I passed nsl sign on slip road going north off the m4 at m5 15!

You'll be ok.

@ scanny.. Yeah.. Renault Premium. Good worktools but typical crap french electrics.

Quite unbelievable that a brand new £90k> truck and the first day you put it on the road and one of the bl00dy interior cab lights give you jip.

Not to mention ABS/ESP lights !

Still at least there is a countdown timer for both overspeed and Tacho breaks !!

I got caught going 59 in a 40 around this area at 3 in the morning because of the crap signage and constant changing of the limit! The cameras certainly do work!

i just came back up the M5 after buying my new car, everything was well sign posted, all the restricted speed limits were very clear.. no problem?

although i was going along at 50mph and still had people flying past me, if they dont get tickets then the avg speed cameras must be set quite high

Looks like I'll bump this thread.

Was driving down from Yorkshire to Exeter with brother and remember seeing some 40 specs on the way down.

It was my turn to drive back up and when I got back home I for the life of me can't remember ever slowing down for a 40 zone. Just plenty of 50 zones

Can anyone confirm, not sure if the 40 on the way down was around J5 or J16. Google isn't helping much.

14 days to go!

That is/was much further up than m4/m5, when I went through a couple weeks ago it was 40 both N & S for about 1mile or so in one section of road works, which looked to be the same set up as all the 50 sections.

I've had a quick flick through http://roadworks.org/ but can't easily spot it, not sure where the 40 area was though as I wasn't driving so didn't need to pay attention.
