AVG 7.5 takes maybe 2 minutes to download the update and install it whereas is only takes 30 seconds or so on another computer.

Any ideas?

Is your AVG updated every single day on one computer and not the other? could it be that you do not use one computer as much as the other one, therefore when you do go to update the anti-virus it takes longer because it has to download more definitions to update a more 'older' AVG than your main PC that takes 30 seconds?

What about hardware, are both PC's similar spec? Or is the PC that takes 30 seconds a much faster computer therefore installation is quicker?

The slow one is a laptop, 4 years old and the quicker is a desktop about 2-3 years. The desktop is quicker but I didnt think that much quicker tbh

I had this, never did find out the reason why either :/ It was on a desktop pc, top spec so that wasn't the reason.. would sit there for 2-3 mins waiting for the download to catch then slowly update - ended switching to Avast. Other machines on the network were fine so it wasn't the connection etc..odd.

I had a look at avast but it reminded me of Norton or McAfee? Too much going on with all the scanners etc? resident shield, messenger and more?

Do you go with them all or switch some off to keep things streamlined?

All on purely as I haven't been bothered to look at what I can switch off! I don't really like it doing everything to be honest, it's not my first choice but I'm a bit dubious of messing around too much :(

is ya other computer torrenting while the lappy tries to update :p usually the reason why mine takes a while to d/l sometimes due to housemates raping the bandwidth :p

No, its just when it boots into windows. Tried looking at the settings on both but they both seem to be the same
