AVG FREE for Android devices - It was bound to happen

Some cool features include remote wipe and tracking via GPS, so similar to Lookout Mobile Security but completely free.

Going to try it out.

I expect as the platform size increases even more we'll be seeing other vendors go mobile too.

Market reviews are the usual split between like/dislike - I never tend to take comments seriously anyway though and try it myself instead.

Be interested to see what your thoughts are when youv'e has a go with it.

The PC version of AVG is a disgrace, but I'll keep an open mind for this until I've seen more user experience.

I won't be installing it for the minute though...

Hmmm just tried it out and my thoughts are....stick with Lookout free edition

Yes it works but it appears to be focused more towards non rooted Devices because it flags SuperUser as a threat and when you click Fix it proceeds to attempt to uninstall the app instead of giving a summary of what was detected and selectively choosing items.

Also selecting the SD card to scan has no selectable items...

A full can via Lookout shows no threats.

AVG has been available on the Android market along with 3 or 4 other no-name type AV products for at least a couple of months. (Nov 2010) AVG bough DroidSecurity and bundled it as their own.
