AVG - Trojan Problem

AVG picked up a Trojan Dropper Generic8 CLXE, 3 of them all with the exact same file description.

Selected to remove all, managed to delete two and then 3 more appeared (while in the process of removing 2 that were deleted. Again, these all had the exact same file description c:/program data/bitguard(some numbered file extension)

As they were all the same file location, I restarted my computer (as prompted by AVG) and I have completed a full system scan.

The full system scan showed no signs of the trojan horse, just some minor problems which were fixed. This full system scan was done with AVG.

Is it safe to assume my computer is free from this virus? Or should I re-format? :)

I would move this to Software thread dude, but go download Malwarebytes, install it.
Restart in safe mode, run aVg and then Malwarebytes, then look through your registry for
whatever program that is linked to your trojan and delete it.
Run Avg and Malwarebytes and you should be fine.
Personally I use Malwarebytes and CCleaner.

Use Malwarebytes, it has a really good detection rate and may pick up on things AVG missed.

I'd also have a good look in task manager for any unknown, suspicious or strange running exes. If you are unsure of one, Google it's name for more information :)

I would also use software such as Secunia PSI to check all of your software's versions and update them as some software may have security patches. Finally, if you are still concerned you can use something like CCleaner to clean out some caches (such as a internet browser) just for good measure.

Done both scans using AVG and Malwarebytes, AVG found some minor non-issues. Malwarebytes found a hefty bunch of mysearchdial etc, deleted it all now. So I am assuming I am safe.

What would you suggest instead of AVG then? Anything from that list above (Hitman Pro etc)

I use AVG and Malwarebytes Free version,on my other PC I use Avast 2014 and Malwarebytes Free version, point is always have your main AV backed up by something like Malwarebytes so you can do a free independent scan now and then, also if you go to AV Test here you see AVG does very well,http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/windows-7/julaug-2013/ , a lot better then Defender/MSE ;) .

Panda Cloud free version is another good alternative.

I'd say drop AVG and go Avast and Malwarebytes. AVG was not very good in the past, hence me moving off it. It appears in Elevon's link they may well have got better, though Avast still scores higher with Protection (and overall).
