Well I can screw bit's together to make a PC but damned if I can configure AVG to scan my encrypted BT mails - Now get no mail's at all - using Firefox and Thunderbird - Why can't gatesy keep Window's mail instead of making it "better" - I don't want it better - I want it how it was after 10 yrs of getting it there.

rant over - Back to Brandy and start again tomorrow - good job I am retired and have all day.

If anyone can suggest a new anti virus prog that is idiot proof and old geezer compatable i would like to hear it.

ESET Have used for years no problem.

Is it me or when i see people build pc's that cost a grand they don't like using paid versions and take the freebie route to save money

I could be wrong in thinking the paid ones are better than free ones.

If you want to pay, then Kaspersky is the best that you can get.

You can get a copy of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 on the auction site for £5 or so, install it and just update it for free to 2014.

Why would anyone even consider anything else when you get the best on the market for peanuts.

Of course the pay for solutions are better, Bitdefender always seems to top the tests though. However due to the fact Kaspersky licensing lets you use older version keys with new versions, it's the best on price. (Maybe bitdefender does too, have no idea)

Microsoft security essentials, Windows firewall and Malwarebytes is what I use. Combined with the securing my web browser and using the best security, common sense, I haven't had an infection in years, and my anti-virus hasn't picked anything up for a good few years too.
