Whats the best software for editing an avi file.

ive got a video that currently 15mb to go onto a website but i want to cut the size down so it doesnt take as long to load. i was gonna use a editor to chop the last couple of minutes off. but i cant find anything to do it.

or is there a better way? compression??

virtual dub is well complicated.

every time i save my edited file to projected file size is about 6gb

does anybody know of anything slightly more user friendly

edit: i was using wrong codec but the file size is still bigger
