My mate just bought an action cam from ane-retailer and he asked me have a go at getting the computer to play video, I have tried all my brain power to sort it (took all of 10 seconds)the format reads as a .avi file also several .ati files.
I have tried running all of them with different players they all say unrecognised file, installed more video codecs, searched the net etc.

Anyone any ideas please.

Yes first player I tried was vlc, :) then I went right all the players just in case, checked the codecs downloaded a few more, but I think I have found the problem the camera is absolute cack.
I put my camera's sd card in it and was the same problem, put the action camera's sd card in my camera worked fine.
So the morale of this is don't buy cheap rubbish from Hong Kong on the bay. :D

Needless to say he is not happy, but he is still going to buy one from you know where.

Oof, can't even find the camera specs.

Have you tried an application like Handbrake or ffmpeg to convert it? See if one of those programs will recognise it?

PS: Tell your mate that the only "action cams" worth buying, are "GoPro, Vholdr Contour or Drift innovation cams" The rest are a waste of money, as he's already found out.
